WEEK 8 REVIEW: Round-up of all the EAL league action from the weekend

FENTON CUP
A breezy weekend saw some cupsets in the Fenton Cup, beginning at Parmiters where Newham Wanderers took out top flight opposition, beating London Harts United 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at full-time.
Another Premier Division side to take out higher ranked opponents were Athletic Newham Under 23s who put Ongar Town’s run to a close with a 4-2 success at Wodson Park. Dayson Rosa scored two, Lawrence Olorunfemi and Khedir Elias grabbed the Newham goals with Ethan Hook and George Pugh scoring Town’s consolations.
It was also a close run thing for Ryan who were taken to spot-kicks by Premier Division side Vallance, their match ending in a 1-1 draw with Yousuf Hoque having scored for the latter. Ryan held their nerve to win the shootout 5-4 to progress on.
A cracker of a game in Walthamstow saw Priory Park Rangers take on West Essex Reserves with the sides combining to produce an eight-goal thriller, 4-4 the final score. A shootout was needed to separate the teams and it was West who won that 6-5.
The in-form FC Baresi Reserves and Onyx met in the cup on Saturday with the hosts prevailing from the tie at Aylward Academy, a goal each from Ali Shikheey and Aaron Craig scoring the goals in a 2-0 Baresi win.
Over at The Drive, Senior side Chadwell Heath Spartans booked a place in the third round following a solid 3-0 home success over North East Lions. Ryan O’Connell was the hero on the day, scoring a hat-trick for their side.
FENTON TROPHY
The Trophy produced a couple of shocks also with Division Two’s London East firing in eleven goals against Division One side London Park City in an 11-2 scoreline at Redbridge Sports Centre to move into the first round.
Another Division Two side that produced the goods were Lymore Gardens Under 23s who took their place in round two with an 8-3 away victory over Tajik Unity, overcoming goals from Muhamadziyo Karimov, Shakhboz Safarovand and Kholov Samandar.
SENIOR DIVISION
Kulture picked up another victory on Friday evening, defeating Sporting Bengal United Reserves at Parsloes Park in a 5-1 scoreline, Jadon Ata-Gyamfi and Landry Gogoa both scoring two and Edward Mavakala the other. Emre Ozuaciksoz netted the Bengal reply.
The big result on Saturday afternoon came from east London where Saint City put an end to FC Petrocub’s perfect start to the season in a 5-0 win, Richard Seixas, Rodrigo Pijaque, Richard Boah, Kenneth Obananaya and Najet Cornejo striking with the goals.
With other sides in cup action, Waltham Forest Borough secured a fifth win of the season and now sit fourth, Dean Florence scoring the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win against Haringey Borough Reserves in Dagenham to continue their strong form.
That same scoreline was reflected in a closely fought contest in Beckton where CSM London were taking on Dagenham United. Just one goal was all that separated the sides with Junior Milla netting that effort, 1-0 the scoreline.
Frenford Development earned a valuable point that moved them out of the relegation zone, netting a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers, Woodford Town Under 23s. Letrel Gardner scored the Town goal with Dwayne Lekessie striking for Frenford.
PREMIER DIVISION EAST
The Premier Division East action saw three identical scorelines, beginning at Parsloes Park where Condor moved second in the table after racking up a narrow 2-1 win over Something From Nothing through Darius Darie and Mihai Bozianu goals.
That scoreline was reflected on the adjoining pitch where AS Rapid Londra secured a 2-1 success against Kit Out London through goals from Andi Hotoi and Bogdan Toana, Charles Ariwa the Kit Out scorer with their goal.
Over in Hainault, Romford Town Flyers were facing fellow winless Motormen and it was the visitors who left with the points, Flyers winning 2-1 with a couple of goals from Ali Rajim which made the difference.
PREMIER DIVISION WEST
The one game in the West division saw London Cranes taste victory for the first time this season after a 3-1 away win against Old Esthameians. Harland Taylor scored for E’s with Arafat Kajjumbi’s brace and a Collina Masembe goal the difference.
DIVISION ONE EAST
There was a change of leadership in Division One East where Royal Forest made the most of results elsewhere to go top on goal difference, netting the game’s only goal late on against Redbridge Community in a 1-0 success.
That result was emphasised by another big result elsewhere as Bealonians Reserves’ third win of the campaign saw them end Loughton Town’s strong start, Beals 3-0 winners in Barkingside.
Dagenham United Reserves and Old Barkabbeyans Reserves’ clash ended in a high-scoring 4-4 draw as Luca Baker, Charlie Landers, Phillip Kalwango and Cain Dash netted for Dagenham with Ryan Blake, Tyler Turner, Josh Robinson and Luke Harradine on target for Barks to share the spoils.
DIVISION ONE WEST
The biggest winners in the West division were Hackney Wanderers who racked up a terrific 8-1 home success in beating Leyton City. Patrick Machado and Joshua Sawuna both scored two, Muhammed Omotoso, Junior Daniel, Michael Morgan, Palmiro Cabo-Verde and Glory Kemakuko were all on the scoresheet, rendering Joel Malundama’s goal as just consolation.
There was a seven-goal thriller at Leventhorpe Leisure Centre where Parsonage Leys edged their game 4-3 against Get Rich Together. Costa Azzopardi scored two with Jake Turner and Jack Payton adding the others.
Over in Barkingside, Sich London’s outing at home against fellow new side UK Moldova ended in victory to the visitors with Ion Efrem and Bogdan Rus both scoring for Moldova in a 2-0 scoreline.
SP United are up into fourth place in the table, leaping above their opponents from the weekend, Changing Lives, following a 5-1 scoreline. Ussri Badari scored for Lives but United goals from Husnain Ahmed (2), Vincent Clifford, Luca Jeffries and Israel Bokoko.
DIVISION TWO
Kulture Reserves are up into second place in the standings in Division Two, edging a tight contest with CSM London Under 23s 3-2. Edmilson De Sousa, Koray Ahmet and Dylan Bonsu scored the Kulture goals with Healing Bussolino and Jahim Stapleton-Payne responding for CSM.
Moving up into sixth spot, Eastside Foundation made it two wins from four this term, defeating London Academics in a 3-1 scoreline in Hainault through goals from Shannon Taylor, Ryan Taylor and Mikael Martin. Ali Abdalmageed scored for London in reply.
Chingford Harriers are one of the three remaining unbeaten sides in the division and their efforts on Saturday saw them record a 2-1 away success against Freetown as Andrew Bowring and Huai-Ginn Oliver netted the all important goals.
DIVISION THREE
Jays closed the gap on the leaders at the top on the back of a big 6-0 win against Romford Town Flyers A at Parsloes Park. Cameron Crossett scored two Riley Salek-Taghizadeh, Mohamad Adam, George Reardon and Lekan Aina scoring the goals.
The leaders, Buckhurst Way, stay a point clear and with a game in hand, their clash with Cobra ending in a 2-2 draw to share the points. Luke Joy and Blane Barwick scored the goals for Cobra as they netted a first point of the season.
There was just one goal in the final league game of the day where Upminster Albion benefitted from that sole scoring moment to net a 1-0 away victory over Bocas Jogabonito in Harlow.
COUNTY CUP
In the BBC Essex Premier Cup, it was clean sweep for league sides with Fairlop Rovers’ trip up the A12 ending in a 2-1 victory against Stanway Pegasus Under 23s to net their place in the second round.
There was a top result also for Unitey who took down step 7 opposition in the opening round action with a 4-0 home win against Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division side, Cressing United.
There were five goals in the clash in Dagenham where Bakers693 and Harold Wood Athletic Reserves had to battle hard with the elements but it was Bakers who left the happier, 3-2 winners and into the second round.
At South Park Drive, Old Barkabbeyans also earned their place in the next round with an extra time victory against May & Baker EC Reserves after their match had ended level at ninety minutes. An extra-time winner for Barks saw them win 2-1.
In the Essex Junior Trophy, Old Parkonians B came from a goal down to defeat higher ranked opposition as they swept six goals passed Glendale to win 6-1 and head into the next round of the competition.
