FENTON CUP

On one of the wettest Saturdays in a very long time, there was just one Fenton Cup tie played as Chigwell Mens Club looked to overcome a division deficit as they took on Division Three’s Flyers Reserves. Billy Barr and James Collier both got themselves on the scoresheet for Chigwell but Flyers scored six goals of their own to progress through to the second round.

SENIOR DIVISION

In the Senior Division, it’s all change at the top of the table as London Cranes become the latest side to lead the pack after a terrific win against West Essex Reserves. They had to do it the hard way too as West led 2-0 before the Cranes comeback saw them cruise to a 4-2 victory on the day.

East Ham Inter’s great run of form continues and they are now second in the table following a big win at the weekend over Singh Sabha Barking. Adam Bessadi was the hero with a hat-trick with Meelad Hamard, Amalraj Kakumanu and Sofyan Khalfi all on target in the 6-2 win for their side at Noak Hill.

Moving up to third place in the table are Jolof Sports who made it four wins from four games with a terrific 3-1 victory over the early pacesetters, ACD United. Jamie Alexandrou grabbed the United goal but Jolof will be the happier of the sides as they returned home with all three points.

In the division’s remaining match, there was plenty of net bulging as Grove United and London Park City combined to serve up eleven goals. George Montgomery, Elisio Carvalho and Hugo Monteiro each scored for City but Grove were on fire once again with eight goals of their own in an eventual 8-3 win that sees them move fifth. Harry Chalk scored four of those goals with Shaun Goddard netting twice and Patrick Macdonald once.

DIVISION ONE

The top of the Division One table looks the same as FC Baresi extended their run at the top with another victory, this time beating off the efforts of Lymore Gardens in a Waltham Forest derby game. Courtney White netted twice for Lymore but a pair of braces from Marvin Smith and Maamoon Khan along with efforts from Tyler Kirby and Delano Lloyd completed a 6-2 win for the vistors.

Rapid Chingford have moved up to third place in the standings as they played host to Wapping on Saturday at Parmiters. Ionut Pumnutiu scored two with Catalin Francu, Constantin Banu and Florin Ivancia each scoring one apiece to overcome an Eesa Malik goal for Wapping in a 5-2 win.

Three Colts remain unbeaten so far this season as they extended that record with a closely fought victory away at Chingford Athletic Reserves at the weekend. Michael Hay and Michael Boahene got the Chingford goals but strikes from Nicky Blackwell, Callum Kennedy and David Watson edged this thriller for Colts in a 3-2 scoreline.

And completing the action from the division was one of those rare grassroots goalless contests that would probably be shown last on Match of the Day. Melbourne Sports took on local rivals Chigwell in Hainault but the defences were on top as the goalkeepers secured a cleansheet.

DIVISION TWO

CSM London have opened up a six point gap at the top of Division Two and look to be making themselves one of the title favourites this year. They were up against a Cowley Community side who had made a decent start themselves. However, strikes from Keifer Cole, Micail Koulibaily and Kamran Khan were enough for CSM to record a 3-0.

In another top end of the table clash, there was an interesting game at Hackney Marches where the unbeaten Chingford Athletic Development were up against a highly rated Eastside outfit. A goal apiece from Conrad Mullings and Waj Abdul Malik completed a 2-1 win for Eastside who ended their opposition’s perfect start.

What a fortnight it has been for a rejuvenated Upshire Forest side who have responded well to a difficult start by recording successive wins, this time seeing off the efforts of Flyers. Leighton Hughes-Franklin scored a hat-trick with George Oake and Jack Marrion goals completing a stunning 5-1 win. Jason Collins was accredited with the Flyers consolation goals.

It was also a big afternoon for FC BKT who secured their first league win of the season with an away day victory at Inter Plaistow. Samuel Garrett got the Inter goal but two strikes from Ibrahim Buhari and goals from Michael Duah and Matthew Russell secured a 4-1 win for BKT.

DIVISION THREE

It’s all change at the top of Division Three as Frenford A continue their positive start to the new season and now top the table after a closely fought 3-2 win at home to Forest Green Reserves. Tommy Whelan was at it again with a brace for Green but a Frenford brace from George Andrews-Court and a single from Adam Andrade completed the victory.

The theme of goals continued at Mabley Green where two of the early pacesetters, Tower Hamlets Reserves and Haver Town Reserves, came together and accumulated a twelve-goal haul between them in an entertaining fixture. Suaibo Balde scored a hat-trick from Hamlets with two goals from Abdoulaye Ly and one each from Kai Peters, Benas Vaivada and Jedidiah Brown to help their side earn an 8-4 win.

It was a similarly high-scoring contest in Seven Kings where New Star Soccer took on Custom House United in a ten-goal contest which went the way of the visitors. Two goals from Jamie Wooster and Glenn Levy were supplemented by efforts from Matthew Guy, Bradley Routledge and Paul Wooster for the Dockers, overcoming New Star goals from Micah Sutherland, Tyrese Sutherland and Ricardo Khan in a 7-3 win.

Brook City are up to fifth place in the table as they sent the league leaders, Royal Forest, spiralling to a first defeat of the season. There was just one goal between the sides with Brook the beneficiaries of that effort to record a 1-0 victory.

The battle between two of the sides are the lower end of the table saw Glendale visited by St Francis with both sides seeking their first points of the season. Glendale will have returned home the happier of the sides as Daniel Mwamba scored twice and one each from Volter Correia, Khari Pobi, Zachary Weisz and Mouhamed Gueye, overcoming a terrific Steven Porter consolation goal for the Saints in a 6-1 scoreline.

DIVISION FOUR

In Division Four, the top two sides went head-to-head in Chadwell Heath with second-placed Sungate Reserves hosting the league leaders, Debden Park. Daniel Rule got on the Debden scoresheet but a Glenn Bransgrove brace paved the way for Sungate with Bradley Johnson and Westley Quinn also scoring in an eventual 4-1 win. That result cuts the gap at the top to just three points and you expect these two will be up there come the end of the season.

Dagenham United Reserves remain third in the table as they accumulated another point in their clash away at Old Barkabbeyans Reserves on Saturday. Tola Oyerokun and Brandon Johnson both scored for the home side but another Jeffrey Nketia brace levelled up the contest in a 2-2 draw.

Newly formed Loughton Lions are up to fourth place in the standings as they romped to a big away win away at Soul Youth in Hackney. Will Osmond was the hero for the Lions with a four goal haul on the day with Jamie Wood and Oussama Serrar efforts earning a 6-1 victory. Saddik Azizur scored the Soul consolation goal.

The remaining league action on the day saw an exhilarating match in Chadwell Heath where Newham Royals came up against local rivals, Brentwood United Reserves, in a seven-goal thriller. The Royals scored four of those seven to edge the contest 4-3, moving them up level on points with their opponents in sixth position.

ESSEX JUNIOR TROPHY

There was just the one county cup tie this weekend as Puma Kings played host to a Gatcliffe side seeking to overcome a two-division deficit. Puma did however make that difference show in the end as they romped to a 6-1 victory to book their place in the third round of the Essex Junior Trophy.
