WEEK 6 REVIEW: Round-up of all the EAL football action from the past week

SENIOR DIVISION
The week’s action began back on Tuesday evening where Frenford Development were in action at home against AS Rapid Londra. After defeat last time out, Frenford bounced back well to earn themselves a 6-1 win as Callum Alexander and Isima Iguisi both struck twice, Reon Murray-Whyte and Damilola Olaiya netting the others while Costel Nitescu scored the Rapid goal in reply.
On Friday evening, Haringey Borough Under 23s kept themselves firmly in the picture at the top end of the table as they scored six goals without reply against winless Bakers693 at Coles Park. A couple of Kevin Akpoedafe and Louis Nathanael goals set Borough on the way with Sertan Kirman scoring the other in a 6-0 scoreline.
Over at Oakside on Friday night, hosts Lymore Garden were in action once again with the visit of Woodford Town Reserves in a local derby under the lights, a closely fought contest falling in favour of the hosts. Lymore were 2-0 winners in the game as Malik Donaldson and Ryo Brown both got on the scoresheet, helping their team into third.
Saturday’s afternoon’s action saw the lead at the top remain in the hands of two sides, CSM London’s sitting second on goal difference after a narrow 1-0 away win against Chadwell Heath Spartans. It was a converted penalty from Jesse Jones which proved the difference between the sides, a win that keeps CSM unbeaten.
After Tuesday’s victory, Frenford Development earned themselves another three point haul and went back top on goal difference following a big 5-0 home win against Fairlop Rovers in Ilford. Keenan Gravillis and Faruk Abdullahi both scored twice while Reon Murray-Whyte netted the other to take all three points in the Redbridge derby.
Over at Noak Hill, Walthamstow Reserves were the visitors to take on FC Petrocub with Stow holding a point lead over their hosts heading into that contest on Saturday. They came away with all three points however and extended the lead over their opponents to four, 2-0 winners on the day.
Down at Lakeside Sports Ground, hosts AS Rapid Londra were looking for an upturn in form as they were faced by a Philip United side also seeking some consistency after a mixed start. It was the visitors here who will have left the happier of the teams, Philip winning the game 5-0 to climb into seventh spot, seven points off the pace.
The remaining league action came from Wadham Lodge as Sporting Hackney went in search of some points to assist their fight against relegation, taking on an Ongar Town side also in need of points in their chase at the top. It was a contest which saw defence reign supreme over attack, ending in a 0-0 goalless draw as the teams took a point apiece.
PREMIER DIVISION EAST
In the East division, leaders Romford Town Flyers ensured they remain top of the pile after the opening three rounds of games, making it three wins from three after a 3-1 away success against Waltham Abbey A at Town Mead. Elisha Bolarinwa, Seyhan Cucel and Kofi Broni all found the net for the visitors to keep their perfect start going.
Close on the coattails of the leaders are unbeaten Barkingside Reserves who picked up a second win of the season following an away victory against Something From Nothing at Fairlop Oak on Saturday. ‘Side were 4-0 winners to make it two wins from three, holding second spot on goal difference for the time being.
Also sitting with an unbeaten start to the season, third placed Dagenham United are right up there in the mix and made it two wins for the season following a closely fought victory against Kit Out London, winning the Dagenham derby 2-0. A goal apiece from Tajean Lewis and Hafidh Ally proved the difference in the end between the sides.
There was a first league win for Greengate District who earned their first three points of their existence following a 2-1 home success against previously unbeaten Redbridge Community at Noak Hill. Ibrahim Basri and Mohamed Ali were the men on target with the Greengate goals to make it a memorable afternoon for their side.
Over at Parsloes Park, Inter Newbury were in home action looking for a bounce back from last week’s reverse, up against a Motormen who had experienced an identical start to their campaign also. The game saw the sides finish level at 3-3 to take a point each with Shaquille Ishmael, Meeshaq Malone and Fuad Ibrahim scoring the goals for Inter.
PREMIER DIVISION WEST
Over in the West division, there were some high-scoring games, beginning with the early league leaders, Vallance, who followed up their opening day success with another big win this time out, beating City of Westminster 7-1. Brady Landu scored four goals for the hosts, Terence Mensah added two and Kelvin Gomes struck the other.
Also scoring seven were Saint City who will be pleased with their response to an opening defeat last time out, recording a win in game two with a 7-0 home victory against London Park City in East Ham. The experienced Liam Adams netted four for City with Noah Chesmain, Leo Gaspar, Richard Seixas and Rodney Capemba scoring the others.
Newham Wanderers will also be pleased with their afternoon’s work, making it two wins from two so far this season to sit second on goal difference, coming away 3-1 winners from Dagenham against Priory Park Rangers. Emmanuel Chukwumah scored two and Stefan Radu once for Wanderers to help their side over the line.
DIVISION ONE
Two sides are racing away at the top of the Division One table, beginning with Ocean Pacific who have been finding the back of the net with regularity so far and made it three success wins following an 8-0 success at Fairlop Rovers Reserves. Jesus Posso, Darwin Orozco and David Banegas all scored two each, Florin Ivancia and Diego Loyola netting the others.
Following closely behind the leaders on goal difference are Old Esthameians, also sporting a three wins from three record this year, their latest efforts earning them a 2-0 win at Freetown on Saturday afternoon. Brad Harris and Ibrahim Sidibe both netted for the visitors to make it a great start to the year so far.
There was a big win also for Leyton City who sit third in the standings after an unbeaten start, picking up their second win of the season with a 6-2 victory away at Old Barkabbeyans. Awal Lawal’s hat-trick for City set them on their way, Westley Lekes scored twice and Sterlange Nzeza once, rendering Jay Elliott’s double as just consolation.
After defeat in their opening game, West Essex Reserves will be much happier following their second match, taking all three points to leap above opponents, Loughton Town, in the standings. West were 7-1 winners at Wadham Lodge to climb up into fifth, overcoming a Tom Osmond goal from Town.
In the day’s late kick-off at Mayesbrook Park, Condor made it two wins from two this season after they earned themselves a 3-0 home success against FC Alpha, moving up into third spot in the table. Mohamed-Sahin Abasov, Darius Darie and Liviu Tihon all found the back of the net to hand Condor the points.
DIVISION TWO
Chadwell Heath Spartans Reserves sit top of the Division Two standings after three weeks of the season, earning themselves a comprehensive 9-3 win on Saturday against CSM London Under 23s at Parsloes Park. Owen Rami was on fire with six goals, Jack Chawner adding another two. Eugen-Nicolae Lupan’s brace and Ritchie Palata’s effort accounted for CSM’s consolations.
Parsonage Leys have joined Spartans level on points at the top of the table as they recorded a second win of the season, defeating Saint City Reserves 7-4 in Dagenham. Denis St Louis’ hat-trick for City and a Funsho Olawale goal went unrewarded as Samuel Butler and Joshua Wilkening braces, along with singles from Bert Greenwood, Stanley Mukome and Casey Ajayi, turned the game in Leys’ favour.
Two of the division’s unbeaten sides met in Barkingside at the weekend with promoted Old Parkonians A facing a Dagenham United Reserves side in their latest contests. It was a case of defences on top in the game, the fixture ending in one of those rare goalless draws, sharing the spoils.
Up into the top half of the table are Glendale who picked up a first win of the season following a 4-1 home success against Haringey United at Fairlop Oak. Wasiu Lawal and Emmanuel Ejembi’s first half goals were added to by strikes from Rayaan Ali and Bruno Costa, Leon Bodkin netting Haringey’s consolation in between.
Over in Harlow, hosts Ongar Town Reserves and Old Barkabbeyans Reserves went in search of some points and it was the visitors, Barks, who came away the happier of the sides after picking up a 4-2 win, their first. Thomas Abega, Justice Akushie, Owen Thompson and Isiaih Farinto struck with the goals, Romario Maloney and Ademola Towolawi scoring for Town in reply.
DIVISION THREE
Changing Lives lead the way in Division Three with six points, recording their second successive win of the season on Saturday after beating Buckhurst Way 4-2 at Bancrofts. Agoro Fuad scored twice with Ussri Badawi and Andrews Ohene-Poku netting the others for the leaders to keep their perfect start intact.
Sitting second in the standings, a point off the pace, London Academics recorded their first win in Saturday football after a local derby victory away at Just Play in Hackney. A goal apiece from Ian Marques-Tavares, Mosope Oguntuga, Onyema Uzokwe and Jordan Shim were the players on target for London to hand them a 4-2 victory.
Cobra are up into fifth place in the table as they earned a first win of the season to climb up the table, taking away all three points from their contest with Chingford Harriers at Parsloes Park. Todd Bolger and Luke Joy both struck for the hosts and Andrew Bowring netted a Harriers consolation in a 2-1 scoreline.
It was a big afternoon for Jays also who recorded their first win in open age football with a 2-1 away success at Redbridge Community Reserves. Despite starting the day below their opponents in the standings, Jays were victorious as Leo Millazo’s goal helped them to that maiden success.
COUNTY CUP
There were a pair of wins for league sides in the opening round action of the London Junior Cup, beginning with the all-EAL affair from Walthamstow where North East Lions took the honours in their game with FC Baresi Reserves, heading into round two following a 3-0 home success.
It was also a successful afternoon for top-flight side Kulture who made the long journey down to south west London but came away with a win under their belts, beating CP Dons a 5-1 scoreline to head into the second round.
