SENIOR DIVISION CUP

Rapid Chingford’s recent upturn in form and confidence was on display on Saturday as the Senior Division strugglers took on high-flying London Cranes in the first round of the cup. Two goals from Cristian Burzo and one apiece from Catalin Anghel and Dascalu Danut were enough to help Rapid win 4-0, securing a home quarter-final against Chigwell.

DIVISION ONE CUP

In the Division One Cup, the top two sides met once again but this time with cup progress on the line with Tower United the hosts to a Chingford United side in Hackney. Mihail Vlad scored twice to render a Abubakar Maxamed goal as just consolation, United winning 2-1 to go top of the group with one round of fixtures to play.

DIVISION TWO CUP

There was plenty of goals in the day’s sole Division Two Cup action as Unitey played host to Upshire Forest in Newbury Park. Aaron Rich and Charlie Newman both found the back of the net for the visitors but a Noe Kimia hat-trick and a David Blessing strike made the difference in the end as Unitey won 4-2.

DIVISION THREE CUP

There was a similarly high-scoring contest in the Division Three Cup where Flyers Development and Avondale Rangers combined in a ten-goal thriller in Romford as the game astonishingly finished 5-5 at full time. Jack Swaby and Jason Collins both netted braces with Sean Watson scoring the Flyers fifth. The dreaded shootout was a marathon contest too with Flyers ultimately prevailing 9-8 to reach the last eight.

Up at Debden Park High School, Newham Wanderers were the visitors to face Debden Park in round one of the competition. And it was a lofty Newham side who will have been the happier of the two teams as Bradley Harris, Fabio Jau and Robertson Morais done the damage to see their side win 3-1.

DIVISION FOUR CUP

If goals are your thing, you could have done much worse than Saturday’s Division Four Cup tie between Fairlop Rovers and Newham Royals as those side combined to score eleven goals in their thrilling first round tie. Fairlop were the side who came through the tie to book a place in the quarter finals, winning 7-4 on the day.

SENIOR DIVISION

In the top flight, there was a massive result affecting the top of the table as FC Petrocub made the trip to Waltham Abbey to face Chingford Athletic Reserves at Town Mead. With the visitors needing a win to keep up their chase of the leaders, tenth place Chingford pulled off a top performance to win 1-0 with Luke Primett netting the only goal of the game.

That result enabled West Essex Reserves to become the biggest threats to the league leaders but they had a tough match away at East Ham Inter to overcome first. Mitchell Arthur scored the only goal of a tight fixture, enabling West to win 1-0 and move up to third place in the table, with a game against the leaders next weekend.

The other clash in the top flight over the weekend was an eight goal thriller in Newbury Park where Blue Marlin were up against Lymore Gardens, just three points separating the sides prior to kick off. Marlin extended that to six as they won 5-3 through a Tyreese Robinson hat-trick and further goals from George Bunce and Jordan Mills-Smith.

DIVISION ONE

Eastside maintained their outside hopes of earning a promotion place this season as they defeated eighth placed London Park City in Seven Kings to move to within six points of the promotion places. The visitors picked up a 2-1 win on the day which confirmed a seventh league win of the season so far.

Another side who could have a say on the promotion race is Tower Hamlets Reserves who themselves lie just a further point back, albeit from a game more. They were 5-3 winners on Saturday, overcoming Sporting Hackney Development in a local derby. Richard Balogun scored twice for the Parrots but a Tiago Santos hat-trick and further strikes from Fredirico Bassangue and Joaquim Costa sent the points home with Tower.

DIVISION TWO

Sungate Reserves made it into a double figure number of league matches unbeaten on Saturday with the leaders seeing off the threat of Royal Forest in the Hainault derby. Sam Cooper scored twice for Gate with Thomas Drayton and Aaron White goals earning them maximum points in a 4-2 scoreline.

Three Colts stay second in the table and remain the main threat to the leaders for the title, adding to their points haul with a win at home to co-tenants Melbourne Sports over the weekend. Liam Bellamy and Jack Luck both scored for Colts to render Dexter Stuart’s goal as just a consolation in the end for the Mels, Colts winning 2-1.

An in-form Cowley Community side are a team to be feared at present and the county cup semi finalists continued their hot streak for form with a big away win at Old Esthameians, coming away 4-0 victors. Chris Wright scored twice for the visitors with Kane Greene and James Allen goals completing the scoreline.

DIVISION THREE

Custom House United had an afternoon to remember this weekend as they finally tasted victory in the league this term with a narrow 3-2 away win over Ilford Development. Nathan Blythe and Joshua Fisayo both netted for the Foxes but were undone by Dockers goals from Jamie Wooster, Glenn Levy and Robert Wooster to confirm victory.

Frenford A have started a profitable run of form in recent weeks and picked up a fifth league win on Saturday with a 3-0 home victory over promotion chasing St Francis. Damilola Olaiya, Kyron Chiedozie and Louis Handley all found the back of the net for the hosts as they approach the top half of the table.

DIVISION FOUR

Woodford East seemingly have one hand on the trophy in Division Four as they blew away third placed Lymore Gardens Reserves in an 8-1 win in Debden. Billy Barr stormed his way to a five-goal haul with Sean Bellamy, William Letchford and Frankie Lane grabbing the other efforts on their way to victory.

Loughton Lions won’t give it up without a fight and kept up their own chase for promotion with a big win at home against Flyers B in Hainault. Harrison Andrews and Will Osmond braces done the majority of the damage while Alex Nicoll and Jamie Wood goals completed the scoring in a 6-2 win to move them second, six points off the leaders.
