SENIOR DIVISION

Jolof Sports have been crowned Senior Division league champions as they gained the crucial points they needed in Saturday’s final league game of the season against Blue Marlin, overcoming the points tally of the long-time leaders, ACD United. Jolof were big 6-1 winners on the day, a terrific ending to the season for this side who are still chasing a possible treble with cup final appearances to come.

That result also confirmed ACD United as the league’s runners-up in their very first season in the top flight of the competition having been promoted up from Division Two last season, a hugely respectable achievement for the Romford based outfit.

DIVISION ONE

In Division One, the penultimate fixture of the season in the division saw Chigwell fighting for a top-two finish as they hosted league champions, FC Baresi, in both sides’ final fixtures of the campaign. Chigwell were out the blocks the fastest, racing into an early lead and never taking their foot off the gas. Chigwell ended up 6-0 victors to take the race for runners-up into the final weekend where Chingford Athletic Reserves will likely need a win against relegated Melbourne Sports.

DIVISION THREE

Haver Town Reserves have moved to the brink of the league title on Saturday as they cruised to an 8-0 victory against their upcoming cup final opponents, New Star Soccer. Courtney Waller, Owen Rice and Reece Simpson all scored twice for their side with Lee Harris and Jack Phillips goals rounding off an emphatic 8-0 win for Haver. They just need to avoid a heavy defeat next Saturday to be crowned champions.

The late season form of Tower Hamlets Reserves had thrown a real spanner in the works in the title race but their challenge finally came to an end on Saturday as they dropped two crucial points away at Flyers Reserves. Having been out of action for a while, Flyers were in decent form as they secured a 3-3 draw with the sides having to settle for a share of the spoils. That result saw both Haver Town and Royal Forest confirmed as promoted with just the title to resolve next weekend.
