FENTON CUP

The line-up for this season’s Fenton Cup Final has now been finalised and there will be a familiar face in the final once again as ACD United confirmed their place with a hard fought victory at home against Haver Town Reserves on Saturday. An early long range strike from Jamie Alexandrou gave ACD the lead but Lee Harris got in behind for Haver to level before the break. Both sides missed chances in the second half but a Michael Wade effort midway through the second half was enough for ACD to secure a 2-1 victory and a place in the final.

And that final line-up will also include Jolof Sports as the Senior Division title chasing outfit overcame the efforts of Division One side, Wapping. Jolof were out of the blocks the fastest and held a healthy lead at the break. But they let their foot off the gas a little, eventually rolling out 4-0 victors on the day as Danny Brissett’s side kept dreams of a treble alive. They will face ACD in the final on Wednesday 22nd May, the very last match of the season.

DIVISION ONE

There was just one game in Division One on Saturday but it had some significant ramifications for both of the sides involved as Chingford Athletic Reserves took on Chigwell with both sides still well in the hunt for a promotion place. But by full-time, the initiative was fully in the hands of Athletic who earned a big 4-1 win through braces from Luke Dimond and Jack Knowles. A win for Chingford in their final game will be enough to secure a top two finish while anything less will give Chigwell the chance to take the runners-up position should they win their remaining match.

DIVISION THREE

There were some huge results in Division Three over the weekend, both in terms of importance and margin of victory as Royal Forest took on Frenford A in a local derby knowing that a point or more would be enough to at least secure promotion for the Hainault based side. But they will have ended the day with a tinge of disappointment as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat meaning the title and promotion is now out of their hands, despite remaining three points clear at the top.

Tower Hamlets Reserves hopes of promotion and now even the title have suddenly come into play following recent results in their favour and they were massive 11-0 winners at home to New Star Soccer on Saturday. Haver Town remain in control with games to play but should Tower Hamlets win all of their remaining matches, including their massive match against Haver, all three sides could finish level on 45 points meaning a potential title awarded on goal difference. The final run-in could not be any better poised.
