WEEK 29 REVIEW: Round-up of all the EAL league and cup action from the weekend

COUNTY CUP

COngratulations to Frenford Development who are BBC Essex Premier Cup finalists this season, their semi-final on Saturday seeing them travel to Harold Hill. A close game was edged by the odd goal late on, Frenford netting to win 2-1 and confirm their place at New Lodge against Corinthians in April.

Also netting themselves a place in a county final are Old Parkonians A who had the long trip down south to take on Old Thorntonians in the semi-final of the AFA Minor Cup. A single goal seperated the sides with Old Parks the beneficiries of that late on in a 1-0 success, booking a place in the final later this month.

It was not to be in the other AFA competition semi-final as Condor saw their challenge for the AFA Senior Novets Cup reach a close. They were defeated in a close contest at Parsloes Park, Winchmore Hill taking the win in a 2-1 scoreline.

SENIOR DIVISION

The Senior Division action began on Friday evening with a pair of important games for sides at the bottom end of the table. At Coles Park, Haringey Borough Under 23s completed a 3-2 win over Sporting Hackney with Louis Maffia, Alexander Nicolaides and Zayshaun Asamoah netting for the hosts.

Over at Parsloes Park, Bakers693 were up against relegation threatened AS Rapid Londra in a massive important contest. A single Bakers goals proved the only of the game in a 1-0 success, that result meaning that Rapid can no longer escape to safety.

On Saturday afternoon, CSM London were in goal scoring form with a bit home win at Parsloes, scoring six without reply against Kulture. Dylan Flynn and Rafael Da Mata scored twice each with Luke McElroy and Gideon Sonko netting the others, 6-0 the final scoreline.

It was home success for Walthamstow Reserves too as they saw the visit of local rivals Waltham Forest Borough to Wadham Lodge on Saturday. Stow were 4-1 winners in the game to move up into eighth place in the table while Borough remain dangerous placed just above the drop zone.

Up at Mark Hall, Fairlop Rovers saw their good run of form come to an end as they were defeated by hosts Ongar Town. A goal apiece from Scout Bown and Aaron Stevenson were the difference between the teams as Town ran out 2-0 winners.

Completing the top flight action, at Ashton Playing Fields, Woodford Town Reserves entertained an FC Petrocub London team with just a point between the sides at the start. Two Bailey Brown goals and Arthur Massingham's strike meant it was Town who left victorious, 3-0 winners.

PREMIER DIVISION EAST

In Premier Division East, Greengate District have moved top of the table with three games to go, the Noak Hill side taking all three points in a 5-0 home victory against Romford Town Flyers. Ruben Silva struck two, Patrick Enoh-Arhur, Jorge Agostinho and Melih Saglam adding the others.

Dagenham United sit three points behind with a couple of games in hand, their home game against Inter Newbury ending in a 5-2 win with Yaya Jau netting two, Halameen Agbaje, Bryan Henry and Yusuf Cetin adding the others. Muhammed Seif scored twice for Inter in reply.

Fourth placed Barkingside Reserves lost ground of the promotion chase after falling to a 4-0 away defeat against Motormen in Hainault. Mahmut Emirali, Kasai Ilunga, Adam Lounici and Roy Stevens all struck the back of the net for the hosts to give them the win.

Waltham Abbey A's late charge up the table continues to gather speed, moving up to seventh spot in the table after taking home all three points in a 6-2 win at Redbridge Community, the hosts remaining down in ninth in their battle to avoid the drop.

Over at Fairlop Oak, a real six-pointer of a game saw Something From Nothing taking on FC Baresi Reserves with both sides in a real battle to avoid the drop. A single FC Baresi goal was the pivotal point of the game, Jesse Eyike scoring that to win the game 1-0.

PREMIER DIVISION WEST

Saint City rounded off their maiden campaign in the second tier with a twelfth win of the season, sitting five points clear following a 4-0 away success against North East Lions. Denison St Louis scored two, Richard Seixas and Derek Adu scoring the others.

Second placed Newham Wanderers kept their promotion charge running, 3-1 winners in their penultimate game of the season against London Cranes. Davidcena Okpe scored for Cranes but that proved just consolation as Newham took the points.

Sporting Bengal United Reserves still have plenty of games to play and need four more wins to take the title, starting that run with a 6-1 home victory against Vallance. Mohammad Miah netted for the visitors but that wasn't quite enough.

Sitting in fifth spot are Stratford East who netted themselves a narrow victory at home against Unitey by a 2-1 scoreline. Illias Elmoudden and Jervais Kpeto both got on the scoresheet for Stratford to net a seventh win of the season. 

Tenth placed London Park City are into the last chance saloon with four games to play, a fourteenth defeat of the season, this time a 4-2 loss against Priory Park Rangers, means City need to win all four remaining games to survive.

DIVISION ONE CUP

It was quarter-final day for two clubs in the cup at Parsloes Park where Lymore Gardens Under 23s were facing West Essex Reserves for a place in the last four. It was West who progressed on, winning the tie comfortably 4-0 to book their place.

DIVISION ONE

Back in the league, there was a huge result affecting the title race where Leyton City produced a shock home win against Old Esthameians. Henry Gray and Matthew Pemberton both got on the scoresheet for E's but those were not enough in the end.

At Langston Road, seventh placed Loughton Town played host to league leaders, Ocean Pacific. It was victory here for the top of the table team with Ocean winning the game 3-1 to take their wins tally up to thirteen.

DIVISION TWO CUP

At Fairlop in the Division Two Cup, Lucas Jimack and Yunus Mussa goals gave Old Barkabbeyans Reserves a two-goal lead before Ahmed Abdulai and Peter Elachi levelled it at 2-2 for Glendale. It was Barks who held their nerve to win the shootout and progress on.

DIVISION TWO

Back in the league, Royal Forest were in goal scoring form in their trip to the Marshes, netting themselves an 11-2 win against Haringey United. Damanie Campbell and Jermaine Da Costa both scored but those proved just consolation.

Over at Fords Newbury Park, Ongar Town Reserves netted themselves victory in a key game against CSM London Under 23s, a narrow 2-1 success secured through George Whalley's brace. Francesco Gasparini struck with the CSM goal in reply.  

DIVISION THREE CUP

League leaders, IONA Wheels, are safely through into the last four of the Division Three Cup in their replayed tie against Redbridge Community Reserves, Luke Fearne scoring two and Lewis Deacon one in a 3-0 success.

DIVISION THREE

With the leaders involved in cup action, Changing Lives closed the gap at the top to nine points with a 6-1 home win against Romford Town Flyers Reserves. Agoro Fuad's hat-trick and Andrews Ohene-Poku's brace overcame Callum Adamson's goal for Flyers.

Also netting a key win in the race for promotion were Chingford Harriers who came through a tough trip to Just Play with all three points, Harriers 2-0 winners on the day. Andrew Bowring and Huai-Ginn Oliver scored the all important goals.

Completing the league action, at Hackney Marshes also, London Academics were up against Jays and it was the fourth placed London side who took the win, 2-1 winners to keep alive their own homes of a promotion finish.
