DIVISION THREE CUP

It was Division Three Cup quarter-final day on Saturday which, with the aid of a good old fashioned broom, saw one of the two ties beat the weather. Kitroom were the visitors to a rather wintery looking Newbury Park to visit Old Esthameians Reserves knowing a place in the semi finals was on the line for the winner. Alex Booker proved to be the hero with both goals for E’s as he saw his side through in a 2-0 victory and they now head to New Star Soccer in the last four.

DIVISION FOUR CUP

There was also a crucial Division Four Cup tie played in group B where Dagenham United Reserves played host to the visiting Brook City with both sides needing a positive result to maintain their charge towards a semi-final place. United were ahead early through a Chris Mascall lob but Brook netted twice in reply to send Dagenham out of the competition. Next week’s crunch clash sees second placed Debden Park needing just a point to secure a spot in the last four against Brook City.

DIVISION ONE

In a limited league programme because of the inclement weather, just four matches survived the freeze with Cowley Community the beneficiaries of the only tie to take place in Division One on Saturday. They were 3-1 winners in their match at Forest Green to move them up to eighth in the standings while a backlogged Forest Green remain bottom with ten games still to play.

DIVISION TWO

In Division Two, Chingford Athletic Reserves have moved up a place to third in the league table after they made the long trip to Silvertown to take on Custom House. The sides battled through the elements with the visitors notching up an impressive 6-3 win courtesy of braces from Umar Ali, Billy Harding and Harry Miller.

The day’s other action saw a match at the other of the table with St Francis maintaining their outside chance of avoiding relegation with a third league win of the season, overcoming relegated Forest Green Reserves in a 2-1 victory despite a debut Hadi Lounici goal for Green. The result leaves the Saints effectively needing to win all four of their remaining matches and hoping for other results to go their way in order to avoid the drop.

DIVISION FOUR

And completing a rather limited day of football action, in Division Four, a local derby saw Debden Park face Avondale Rangers. And it was the hosts, Debden, playing their final league match of the season who will have gone home the happier of the sides as they cruised to a 6-2 victory courtesy of a Ross Densham hat-trick, two goals from Jordan Santos and one for Adam Young. That moves them third but with fourth placed Brook City having games in hand to possibly topple them still.
