DIVISION 2 CUP FINAL
Rainham Working Mens Club 1-1 CSM London
(CSM London won 6-5 on penalties)
CSM London have added a piece of silverware to their promotion in the league this season following a dramatic penalty shootout victory on Saturday in the Division Two Cup Final. The game started at a real pace with the ball zipping around on a slick surface from the pre-match deluge. Both sides had racked up the chances before a 22nd minute opener from CSM's Omar Wilson who was in the right place and the right time on the far post to sweep home. Both keepers were forced into some big stops before the break but there was still time for Rainham Working Mens Club to score an equaliser on the brink of half-time, Liam Tormey finishing clinically to make it 1-1.
The second half followed much of the pattern of the first with both sides having big chances. The CSM London keeper had to be on his toes to make a big save when a powerful strike headed his way. Rainham then had another big chance when, following a scramble, a combination of goalkeeping, last ditch defending and a turned down penalty shout prevented a late winner. The game therefore finished at 1-1 with neither side able to force a winner. In the shootout, Rainham were ahead early and might have been hoping for a repeat of their shootout victories in the previous rounds. But CSM London's keeper had other ideas and made some big saves to get his side back into it the cotnest and then saved the final penalty to earn his club a 6-5 win.
Congratulations to Will Brobby and his team on their terrific maiden season. Commiserations to Rainham Working Mens Club who had performed superbly on the day and will have been disappointed not to return home with the silverware themselves.

SENIOR DIVISION CUP FINAL
Docklands Albion 0-2 Jolof Sports
Jolof Sports confirmed the second part of a possible league and cup treble on Saturday evening with a victory in the Senior Division Cup Final. They were up against a positive Docklands Albion outfit but it was Jolof fastest out of the blocks with a number of chances in the opening minutes but they all failed to test the Albion goalkeeper. But in the 22nd minute, they did gain a lead as a speculative effort from fully 40 yards caught out Riddell in the Albion goal who, backtracking, could only palm the effort into the net. Docklands responded well and could have been level before the break with a number of half chances created in front of the Jolof goal but Mutumba thwarted their efforts to see his side hold their lead at the break.
Albion carried that first half ending into the start of the second half and were unlucky not to level moments after the restart as a superb cross landed right onto the attacker's head but he could only steer it straight to the keeper. They also had the chance to level when a squared effort across the face of goal was superbly saved by the Jolof keeper who got a toe to the ball before it reached the waiting Albion forward beyond him. Having soaked up that pressure, Jolof Sports got the crucial second, this time a close range finish following a good move with just five minutes to go. Danny Brissett's side held on to win 2-0 and confirm the double, a superb achievement will the domestic treble still on. A big word also to Prince Obi and his Docklands side who fought valiantly and, with the chances they had, on another could have won this.
