The fourth weekend of the season, the final of September, saw 16 games played throughout all three divisions in beautiful weather more akin to a July summer afternoon rather than almost October!

Starting our round-up in the Premier Division, May & Baker continued their early season form with a fourth consecutive win recording a 3-0 victory against Eastside Rangers. Second place is held by Chingford Town who keep apace of the leaders with a 6-0 win against 7th placed Melbourne Sports. Chingford Athletic won the first Chingford derby of the season 6-1 against Chingford Harriers to maintain their own 100% record. The goals arrived through Michael Mignot and a brace apiece from Tobias Hayden and Kemar Thompson. Jolof Sports Club secured a first win with goals from Seydou Ba, Modou Jammen, Medoune Fall and a hat-trick from Modou Sankareh to confirm a 6-1 win against last season’s runners-up, AHH Romford. Two draws round off the Premier Division action as Cranes United and Rainham Working Mens Club played out a 1-1 draw with St Francis and Newham Res goalless in their own clash.

Game of the day in Division One saw first play second with Vittoriosa Falcons dropping their first points of the season along with their unbeaten run as they were defeated 4-3 at home to Blue Marlin. Goals from Remayne Thomas and Jeffery Nketia couldn’t stop London Bari Res dropping down to third in the table as they lost 3-2 at Three Colts who find themselves up to fourth. Finding the net for Colts were Sean Lapslie and a double from Fabian Donovan. Strikes from Michael Urling-Brown and Ray Stapleton continued Northend’s unbeaten start with a point as they played out a 2-2 draw with Lord Nelson. Glendale and Forest Green shared the points in a 2-2 draw with Jordan Malick and Kalu Olugu netting for Glendale and Tashan Benjamin on target with both Forest Green goals. Rounding off the Division One action, St John Deaf secured a first victory of the season as they beat Chingford Town Res 4-2 to lift them up to sixth place.

In Division Two, a local derby saw Custom House facing Newham Royals and picking up all three points in a 4-2 win to take them top of the league goals from John Chapman, Ritchie Weeks and a double from Paul Wooster cancelling out Richard Smith and Lewis Stichbury goals for the Royals’. West Essex Res remain the other team unbeaten in Division 2 as they picked up a 4-1 win against St Francis Res with strikes from Matthew Sparks, Adam Norris and an Otis Gatehouse brace to lift them to second place in the table. Baldip Boparai and Jordan Hamilton netted the goals in a 2-0 win for Singh Sabha Barking against Dagenham United in a result which sees the former climb up to third place after four matches. Cowley Community returned to winning ways with another hatful of goals from Izynna Ogedi-Uzokwe bagging a 4-2 win against Grove United for whom Tommy Jones and Jamie Pooley were on target. Leyton Green finally found winning ways with a home 7-3 win against Northend Res courtesy of a pair of hat-tricks from Fermat Erodgan and Wyndell Foster and a single from Karel Francis. Northend’s goals came via a brace from Edmund Adade and another from Shafik Majera.

Next week sees the focus turn to the Essex and London FA county cup ties with seven sides representing the league.
