DIVISION 3 CUP – SEMI FINAL
It was a day of high drama in the second Division Three Cup semi finals on Saturday as two of the division’s leading sides, Tower Hamlet Reserves and Haver Town Reserves combined in an eight goal thriller at Mabley Green. Haver were ahead early but Hamlets responded well to lead at the break. Town were never far behind however as Billy Biggs, Ryan Kelland, Reece Simpson and Ezekiel Akinola all netted to see the sides end level at 4-4 meaning the game would be settled in a shootout. There was little to separate the sides from the spot but Haver held their nerve to earn a 9-8 win and book their place at Dagenham & Redbridge FC next month.
DIVISION 4 CUP – SEMI FINAL
In the Division Four Cup, it was also semi final day for two of the top three sides in the division as Debden Park made the short journey to Chadwell Heath to take on Sungate Reserves with a place in the final against Loughton Lions at stake for the victors. On the day, it was Sungate who will have left the happier of the sides with Darren Reid scoring twice and one each from Aaron White and Danny Downer completing a 4-0 win for Gate. They now head to Dagenham & Redbridge on 7th May to face Loughton Lions.
SENIOR DIVISION
In the top flight action over the weekend, there was only the one game but it was an important one as title chasing Jolof Sports headed to East Ham Inter knowing that they had to avoid defeat to maintain their chance. And the east London made no mistake as they put four goals past the Inter defence without reply to make it a 4-0 scoreline, leaving them four points away from securing the title with two games to go.
DIVISION ONE
The Division One action centred around a crucial clash at the summit of the standings where FC Baresi went into their final game of the season against Chigwell knowing that a point or more would be enough to pip their rivals to the title. Chigwell led at half time but a Mark Matthews goal in the second half saw the sides finish level at 1-1.
DIVISION THREE
In Division Three, the only game of the day came in Walthamstow where Chingford Harriers were the hosts to a title chasing Royal Forest with a match of significance to both clubs. Forest will be the happier of the sides however as they secured a hugely important 2-0 win that sees them move level at the top but from a game more, a race which will surely head into the final round of matches this season.
DIVISION FOUR
The Division Four action from Saturday saw that division reach it’s conclusion as Loughton Lions were visited by Soul Youth in the final game of the season. Cup final bound Lions will be heading into that match in some decent form as they swept Soul aside in a 5-2 win. Amjad Gaber was the scorer of both of the Soul goals but his efforts were in vain as Lions ultimately ran out winners.
