Chingford Athletic are through to the semi finals of the Fenton Cup after a 6-1 win over St Francis in their quarter final on Saturday. Michael Mignot, so often the Chingford goal hero, led the way with a hat-trick and Tobias Hayden, Tom Pearce and Jake Mignot rounded off the win with goals of their own. Chingford’s reward is an away semi final at either Chingford Town or Custom House.

In league action, Newham Res secured the biggest victory of the day in the Premier Division with a 4-0 home win against Chingford Town. Newham’s win takes them up to fourth in the table, two points behind Jolof Sports Club but from more matches. Leaders May & Baker EC A were back in action with a win as they travelled to Rainham Working Mens Club and came away 5-2 winners to open up a fifteen point lead at the top of the table over chasing side Chingford Athletic who have six games in hand. Third placed Jolof Sports Club remaining the closest challengers to the title chasing pack and secured a 5-2 win at Eastside Rangers. Asher Modeste’s brace for Eastside was cancelled out by two Jolof goals for Jeffrey Cobbiah and Volney Hervan and a fifth for Modou Sankareh. In the division’s final game, Cranes United move up to eighth in the table after they won 1-0 against AAH Romford.

London Bari Res shocked Division One title contenders, St Johns Deaf, in winning 1-0 against them. That result leaves Blue Marlin on the verge of title glory needing just a couple of points from their remaining two league fixtures. In the division’s only other completed fixture, Northend maintained their slim outside chance of promotion with a 5-1 win on the road at Forest Green as Max  Skimmings (2), Michael Urling-Brown, Chris Margiotta and Timi Olaniyan scored the goals to lead them to victory.

In Division Two, all of the leading sides won as Grove United closed the gap on leaders West Essex Res to just two points with a game in hand as they defeated Custom House 4-2. Harry Chalk was once again the man in the goals as he bagged a hat-trick to go with Rob Arundall’s goal. Leyton Green are certainly not giving up on their own promotion credentials and recent form suggests they should be a side to watch out for. Karel Francis and Charlie Saywood both scored hat-tricks as Anthony Ferdinand and Luke McKenzie also netted to secure an 8-1 home win against St Francis Res. Fourth placed Cowley Community, assisted by Izynna Ogedi-Uzokwe’s brace, won 2-0 against Northend Res while Dagenham United were victorious by 4 goals to 2 over Newham Royals as Francis Mireku and Jonnell Bampo each scored a double to confirm maximum points to take back to Dagenham.
