The day finally arrived; a date that has been marked for weeks in everybody's calenders as the opening fixtures of the Essex Alliance Football League got underway. There may have only been 7 games played but that didn't stop the goals from flying in with 43 goals being scored on the opening day. Interestingly, no home teams won today which is a surely some kind of a record?

We start our report from the Premier Division where Chingford Town travelled to Wanstead Flats to face St Francis and walked away 5-2 winners and sit top of the league. It might only be after one game but everyone loves a winning start to the season! Chingford Harriers went down 2-1 to May & Baker A with a 2-2 played out between Rainham Working Men's Club and Newham Reserves to round off the Premier Division news.

Division One only had 2 games being played this weekend due to other teams starting their season off next weekend but the games didn't disappoint with Lord Nelson going up against old rivals Vittoriosa Falcons from last season. This time round Vittoriosa Falcons came away with all 3 points, winning 2-1, to take second spot in the league. Forest Green picked up their first win in the League as a new club beating Chingford Town Reserves 5-3 and taking top spot after Week 1.

Division Two is often where all the goals are and it didn't let us down with 18 goals in just 2 games. The goalkeepers may not have had the best of days with Singh Sabha Barking going down 4-3 to West Essex Res but the day belongs to Northend Res, showing everyone that they are challenging this season by beating Canio at Wanstead Flats, 7-4.

NOTE: We hope to be able to publish goalscorer and cleansheet information in future reports if this information is reported in a timely fashion by our clubs.
