Docklands Albion have been crowned the new Fenton Cup winners, coming from behind this evening to beat a plucky ACD United side late on.

ACD were quick out of the blocks in the first half, hitting the cross bar with a free kick that thudded back into open play. They then took a lead mid-way through the half, pouncing on a rebound after the Albion defence had blocked the first effort to slot home from 3 yards out and make it 1-0. Docklands responded as you might expect and ended the half the stronger of the sides but without forcing the United keeper into a meaningful save as their build-up play didn’t culminate into clear goal scoring opportunities.

The game changed however very early in the second half as Docklands were awarded a penalty which, although initially saved by the ACD stopper, the follow-up effort was blasted into the net to make it 1-1. Both sides put in a real guts and glory performance in the second half, both creating number of good chances. Albion also had to contend with going a man down going into the latter stages with their attacking player dismissed for an off-the-ball incident. But that appeared to galvanise the men in claret who rode out the storm and grabbed a winner in the dying moments, netting low down into the corner to make it 2-1.

Congratulations to everybody involved with Docklands Albion on a terrific performance to come from behind in such a big match but also to ACD United who showed that they are a quality side who can mix it with the best of sides and played their hearts out.
