This Friday night, the first of three county cup finals involving teams in the league will see Cowley Community take their place in the Essex Junior Trophy Final, where they will take on former EAL side Haver Town Reserves at Heybridge Swifts FC, 7.45pm kick-off.

It's a particularly pleasing occasion with Cowley being one of the extremely unfortunate clubs to miss out on playing their county cup final in the same competition back in 2020, following the outbreak of the pandemic. To repeat the feat once again this season, beating the same semi-final opponent en-route, is quite remarkable.

Their run to the final began with three successive victories against fellow EAL sides with FHN Athletic (2-0), Rainham Working Mens Club (4-2) and then Belfry (2-1), the sides to fall to them, the latter no mean feat considering their success this term. Their best performance saw them win emphatically, 5-0, at home against Ashingdon Reserves in the quarter-finals to set up another semi-final against Brentwood Athletic Reserves. In that semi-final, Cowley had to come from a goal behind but efforts from Elias Tackie and Inarhu Rodriguez Martin in reply proved enough to send the team to the final once again!

Their opponents are a familiar name with Haver Town Reserves having previously competed in the Essex Alliance League a few seasons ago. They now reside in Division Three of the Mid Essex League, presently sitting fourth but having plenty of games in hand on those above and having only suffered a single league defeat this season.

We wish Leigham, Rob and all of the Cowley players the very best of luck for their final on Friday night and we will most certainly be there to cheer them on. It would be great to see other members of the league there to give their support.
