Current Premier Division champions, Chingford Athletic, secured their first competitive win of the season at home to Buckhurst Hill Under 21s as they won 4-0 against their previously unbeaten opponents. Two goals from Anton Trice and a single apiece for Matthew Roberts and David Livie were enough to secure the points and move up to second in the table. London Falcons sped into a 3-0 half-time lead in their game away at Melbourne Sports but saw the home time make a great comeback through goals from Billy Jones, Ryan Lincoln and Patrick King to take a point in a 3-3 draw. In the final game, St Francis went behind to an early Kadeem Francis strike for Chingford Town to win 3-1 at home. Robert Evans bagged a Saints brace and a single from Kyle Bennett completed the scoring to see the hosts up to fourth in the table.

In Division One, all three sides with maximum points so far extended their records with leaders Three Colts edging to a 2-1 win against Kitgum Boys. Grove United were 2-0 winners away at Chingford Harriers thanks to goals from Tom Blackmur and Harry Chalk to extend their own record while St Johns Deaf were 4-2 winners at Flyers. St Johns’ goals for David Jarchlou, James Paull, Christopher Martin and Marios Costi cancelled at Flyers goals from Stephen Claxton and Lee Hattam. West Essex Reserves overcame a defeat in the first game of the season to win 2-1 at home to Cowley Community through strikes from Adam Norris and Matthew Ford. Conor Harrington was on target with Cowley’s consolation goal.

There were plenty of goals in Division Two where Chingford Athletic’s Reserves travelled to Flyers Reserves and came away with a 5-0 victory courtesy of a brace apiece from Josh Trainor and Michael Boahene with the fifth coming from debutant Jibrial Angel Davies-Reaz. Singh Sabha Barking continue their positive start to the season with another seven goal weekend as they won 7-1 away at Newham Royals, with Glen Brickley finding the target for Royals. New side, Inter Plaistow, recorded their first competitive win in their history with a 7-2 demolition of St Francis Reserves with braces from Mason Brown, Samuel Garrett, Danny Vass and a single from Jason O’Hare doing the damage. Joshua Pereira-Brown and Oly Ade fired in Saints’ consolation goals. Goals from Ryan Leddra and Ross Williams were enough to secure the points for Northend in their 2-1 win against Custom House.

There was varying success for Essex Alliance League sides in the London FA and Amateur FA cup competitions this weekend as Jolof Sports recorded a resounding 10-1 win at home to Old Magdalenians in their AFA Challenge Cup first round clash. Also winning were Forest Green who travelled to Tooting Bec Reserves and returned as winners, 2-1, to make the London Junior Cup second round. Leyton Green saw their county cup aspirations dashed as they went down 2-0 away at Old Pegasonians while May & Baker EC A were taken to extra time and penalties after a 1-1 draw with West Bromley Albion and lost on spot-kicks to exit the London Junior Cup.
