The Division One Cup reaches it's climax this Thursday evening as Belfry and Wanstead meet at Dagenham & Redbridge in the final, kick off 7.30pm.

For Belfry, it has been a memorable season already for the Dagenham based side who lost just once in the league all season, that defeating taking until the very last game having won all twenty-one of their fixtures to that point. Needless to say, that form was enough to wrap up the league title some time ago and they therefore go into Thursday's game with all eyes on a league and cup double. Their progress to the final saw them defeat Kwanzas London Sport in the opening round, 5-1, before another classic battle against league runners-up Cowley Community in the quarter finals. They were in good form once again, scoring five without reply to set up a home semi-final against RCXI. That was a much tighter contest but Belfry were able to win it 2-0 to secure their place at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The other half of the final line-up sees league debutants, Wanstead, go for their very first silverware on Thursday having only formed as a club during last summer. They started the season well and I think will reflect positively on a first season that saw them finish fourth in a tough division. They also possess one of the deadliest strikers in the league with Edson Lami's thirty-three goal haul keeping defences busy, a figure actually matched by Belfry's Kieran James - the battle of the league's top marksmen awaits! They began their run in the competition with a walkover victory in the quarter finals against Newham Wanderers before edging a thriller with Barkingside A, winning the game 4-3 to make their very first cup final as a club.

We look forward to welcoming both clubs and their spectators to Dagenham on Thursday night and we must also wish the best of luck to all, including appointed match officials.
