Apply now to join the Essex Alliance League in 2017/18

The Essex Alliance Football League is looking to build on another successful season and invite new clubs to join us for an exciting 2017/18 season ahead.

Formed through the alliance of two local leagues in 2014, the new competition has gone from strength to strength with tremendous competition throughout the divisions culminating in our end of season cup finals to be held at Dagenham & Redbridge FC in May.

We are a Saturday afternoon league which hopes to continue providing a link for clubs looking to progress into the National League System at Step 7 and above with neighbouring league competitions.

At present, the league will consider applications from clubs based in the boroughs/authorities of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow, Newham, Waltham Forest and Epping Forest.

Applications will need to be supported by an entry-fee/deposit which is payable within 7 days of submitting the application. This fee is returnable should your application not be successful.

So why should we join your League ahead of the others?

Well first and foremost, we believe we offer the most competitive and well-run football league in the areas we cover. We honestly believe that being part of our League will be an exciting prospect for you no matter which division you join. We have a great network of clubs and referees within our League along with a strong committee of individuals that work tirelessly to support the running of this League in a smooth fashion.

There are other unique selling points such as the quality of our website and social media integration as well as hosting all of our cup finals in a Football League stadium at Dagenham & Redbridge. You won't find many leagues able to offer that experience!

At the end of the day, we know that clubs just want to play a form of football that is both enjoyable and competitive. We are here to promote that ethos and work with clubs who want to progress.

What happens next?

If you haven't already done so, you will need to affiliate your Club with the Essex County FA. This is mightily important as it secures your name and provides you with the necessary insurances to allow you to play football.

You will also need to fill in our short application form confirming your interest in joining our League. You are not tied into anything by filling in the form, it is merely our way of knowing that you are interested and getting the ball rolling.

Interviews will be held between April and June of each season to discuss your application further and to guage the best division for you to be placed.

We are completely open to questions at any stage so if you are not sure of something, get in touch with us and we will get back to you with an answer as quickly as possible.

Frequently asked questions

When are matches played?

Matches are played on Saturday afternoons with 2.30pm kick off times (2.00pm when clocks go back). This is to allow for players who may have work commitments on a Saturday morning and falls in line with the traditional requirements at the higher levels.

What kind of ground will we need to play on?

We will happily accept most grounds provided that the quality of the pitch and changing facilities is of a good standard. We have clubs playing at a range of both privately-rented and local authority pitches across the area. We may ask to take a look at your proposed ground if it is not one we already use.

Can we use a 3G pitch?

Yes, we are happy to allow the use of a 3G pitch provided that it is approved for use by the FA and the regular kick-off time is in-line with the League's requirement. Of course, the changing facilities also have to meet the standards we outline.

I'm not sure what level we will be. What standard is the League?

We can certainly offer a standard of football that meets the needs of your team. It goes without saying that the Premier Division is a very strong division with a number of teams fielding players who have played or have the potential to play at a much higher level. The lower divisions present a better opportunity for sides that are newly formed or perhaps are less experienced in adult football such as sides moving up from youth football. We will happily set up some friendlies to give you an idea of the standard of each division.

How much does it cost to join the League?

All new clubs are required to lodge an entry fee/deposit of £100 at the time of application which is our way of being sure that you are serious about joining our League. You will of course get this back if, for any reason, we are unable to accept you into the League. The annual fees are £100 which is fully inclusive of all league and cup entry fees in addition to your first 25 player registrations. We don't make things complex by adding on lots of fees for other various different things!
